A talking clock that works with VoiceOver

Hear the time, without needing to look at the screen.

Tinny(not) is, at its core, a speaking clock: it announces the time using any voice already installed on your iPhone, on whatever schedule you set. That makes it useful as an assistive tool, not just a convenience.

Sound-only, if you want it

Turn off Lock Screen, Notification Center and Banners for the app in Settings and leave Sounds on, and Tinny(not) becomes audio-only: a chime or a spoken announcement, with nothing to read on screen at all. The app shows this option on its own main screen.

Built with VoiceOver in mind

The main controls (the chime switch, the hour grid, the sound list, the custom text field) carry VoiceOver labels and announce their state. We test with VoiceOver and fix what we find. If something doesn't read the way it should, we want to know.

Tinny(not) is free, and VoiceOver works throughout it for everyone. The speaking clock is one of the extras in an optional one-time purchase, with no subscription.

Questions

Does Tinny(not) work with VoiceOver?

Yes. The chime switch, the schedule controls, the sound list and the custom text field all carry VoiceOver labels and announce their state. We test with VoiceOver.

Can I hear the time with nothing on screen?

In Settings, open Notifications, then Tinny(not). Turn off Lock Screen, Notification Center and Banners, and leave Sounds on. The app walks you through this on its own main screen.

Does the app need to stay open?

No. Chimes and spoken times are scheduled notifications, so they play while the iPhone is locked and the app is closed.

Is VoiceOver support part of the paid upgrade?

It isn't. VoiceOver works everywhere in the app for everyone. The speaking clock voice is one of the extras in the optional one-time purchase.
